Double for Rob James the highlight at Galway

Rob James had a first and last race double at the Galway Blazers point-to-point at Loughrea today.

James teamed up with Coiln Bowe to win the maiden race for four year olds with For Talk Sake, who scored by eight lengths, and is for sale. Runner-up was another Wexford contender, Ocean Drifter trained by Donnchadh Doyle and ridden by Barry O’Neill.

James joined forces with Ballindaggin trainer Sean Doyle and the Monbeg Syndicate in the Winner of One and My Story provided them with an easy twenty lengths success.

Jamie Codd was also in winning form. The Mayglass veteran  won the mares maiden race by four lengths on Midnight Legacy, first time out, for Denis Murphy, Ballyboy Stables, The Ballagh.

Next Sunday’s planned fixture at The Pigeons in Co. Westmeath has been cancelled and therefore the Shilelagh & District Hunt meeting at Fairwood, Tinahely, is the only point-to-point happening. The first race is at 2 pm.

The card consists of a four-year-old maiden, a five-years-old geldings maiden, Mares Winners of One, Open Lightweight Race, five-years-old plus mares maiden race and a six-years-old plus geldings maiden race.
