‘Red Card’ for dog fouling coming to Enniscorthy

Cllr Aidan Browne has backed a submission to Wexford County Council’s 2020 budget to pilot a dog bin initiative in Enniscorthy.

“Since my election to Wexford County Council, dog fouling is a frequent issue that comes up at the doorsteps.

It’s a health and safety issue as well as an eyesore that affects both locals and visitors to the area. This is a problem largely caused by a small number of irresponsible dog owners.

“I’m delighted that Wexford County Council has accepted proposals to pilot a dog bin initiative in Enniscorthy. Dog bins can and will serve to reduce the amount of dog fouling along our streets. Dog owners who like to walk their dogs will also benefit from being able to dispose of their dog’s dirt in a hygienic fashion.

“This is a strong step towards improving our town’s cleanliness. I hope the pilot project will gain strong support to ensure that these bins become a permanent fixture in Enniscorthy town,” Cllr Browne added.
