We paid a visit to the South East Hockey u-16’s training session ahead of September’s Inter pros at Enniscorthy’s Astro Turf on Saturday morning.

Following the success of the Irish women’s hockey team in last year’s World Cup, the sport has seen phenomenal growth. and the game is hugely popular.

We spoke to team manager, Ivanna Yates, head coach, Alan Smith, assistant coach, Jonathan Earl, strength & conditioning coach, Trevor Mahon, goalkeeping coach, Alistair Shute, players, Rebecca Doyle, and Leah Kidd.

The squad has now been whittled down to 18 players from an original panel of 100 players.
