Rosslare Harbour RNLI’s volunteer crew launched their all-weather lifeboat yesterday afternoon at 3.40 pm to assist a 10m yacht, with two on board. It was becalmed and suffering engine problems. The yacht, bound for the south coast of the UK, was 10 miles north east of Rosslare Europort, off the Wexford coast.
The weather during the operation was particularly favourable with calm seas and bright sunny skies and warm.
Once on scene, the lifeboat crew assessed that the sailors were safe and well before working with them to establish a towline and bring the yacht back to Rosslare Europort.
Rosslare Harbour RNLI Coxswain Eamonn O’Rourke commended his volunteer crew for a swift professional rescue and wished the sailors a safe onward journey.
