Declan Gibney, Chairperson of Gorey Rugby Club, on behalf of everybody associated with the club, has paid tribute to Sarah Robnson, Twin Oaks, Gorey, who has sadly passed away.
“It is with great sadness that the club have to announce the passing of
our coach, player and friend Sarah Robinson.
Sarah was a great coach who took over the mini
girls during her transition year and gave up her Sunday mornings to ensure a
small group of girls could learn
how to rugby. At the same time training and playing with her own age group. In
2017 receiving the “most improved player” for the under sixteen girls and then
going on to play for the under 18’s and still playing and training
during her illness, her team mates have only good things to say about Sarah
insisting Sarah raised the Leinster cup when the eighteens won the cup in April
this year. Sarah was also involved in the ‘Girls give it a Try’ encouraging
girls to play rugby the sport she loved.
To her Mam and Dad Majella and Dave and brothers Conor, Daithi, Charlie and
Jack. We offer our deepest sympathies. We have all
lost an amazing young woman.”
