Browne critical at ‘NO’ to Wexford M11 novelty event

Wexford TD James Browne has criticised construction company BAM’s decision to reject a request to hold a fundraiser in aid of Wexford charities on the new Enniscorthy Bypass.

It had been hoped to hold a tractor run in aid of worthy Wexford causes along the new stretch of the M11.

“I’m bitterly disappointed that BAM is unwilling to facilitate this novel charity event. There was a number of charities looking forward to organising a unique charity event. Sadly, the opportunity for a fantastic fundraiser has been dismissed”, Deputy Browne explained.

“The decision to turn down the request has garnered disbelief. This is a public road. The organisers tried to use the road as a way to attract support for some very worthy causes. Here we have the prospect of an exciting event crushed by an organisation that would rather put bureaucracy before people.

“I’m hoping common sense and fairness might yet break out and allow preparations for a tractor run or a similar charity event to get underway”, Deputy Browne concluded.
