Senior club camogie championships kick off

Oulart Manager, Colin Sunderland, will be keen to bag his third trophy of the year.

Monday see’s the return of the club camogie championships for 2019. In the senior grade two games take place with Rathnure hosting recent league champions Oulart The Ballagh, St Ibars host Glynn Barntown and St Martin’s receiving a bye in the first round.

Rathnure and Oulart always draw strong interest with their strong healthy rivalary over the years, after a moderate league campaign, Rathnure managed by Kevin Murphy will be hoping they can recapture their 2018 form when they brought county champions St Martins to extra time in the county semi final, they will need big performances from the like of the O Connors sisters and Aoife Guiney to stand any chance of over turning the sides recent meetings in the Leinster League Final and the Wexford League. Oulart manager, Colin Sunderland, will hope his side can maintain their early season form with 2 competitions already won this year, the Leinster League and Wexford League, again he will draw on the experienced players, like Ciara Storey, Mary Leacy, Ursula Jacob and the Kehoe twins.

The other game will be a very interesting game with very little between the sides in recent years, Glynn Bartown managed by Mairead Furlong have really improved over the last few years but have yet to make the semi final, this is a huge game for them if they are to break into the top 4 they will need to win this to maintain their progression, they will look to Emma Walsh, Chloe Cash and Emma Dempsey to guide them on their way. St Ibars managed by Fathye Harries man, Niall Denton, wont go down easy with Kate Kelly back this year and experienced players such as Ciara Donohoe and Aine Leacy also leading the line, this could set up thrilling game, with both teams still having to play St Martins, Oulart and Rathnure this game could be vital for semi final qualification.
