The curtain is coming down on the 52nd annual Strawberry Fair, Street Rhythms and Roots Festival, where a varied programme of events attracted good numbers to Enniscorthy over the past three days.

Joy Quigley, (23), from Ferns, sponsored by Enniscorthy Credit Union, was crowned Strawberry Fair Queen 2019 on the public stage in Market Square earlier this evening.
The Birds and the Teas from Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow, run by Olive and Pat Germaine, won €2,000 and a perpetual cup at the 12th annual All-Ireland Farmers’ Market competition held in Abbey Square this afternoon.
The prize was presented by Minister Paul Kehoe and there were contributions from James Kehoe, County Chairman IFA, Pat Roche, County Organiser, and the judges, while Liz Hore, Manager of Enniscorthy Municipal District acted as master of ceremonies.
Last year’s winner, Alex Fortune, from Ballyhogue, took third spot. Seventeen different food producers took part and the standard was of excellent quality
The Strawberry Roots Festival sponsored by Carlsberg provided 30 free gigs over the three days in the various pubs throughout the town with bluegrass, country, Rock ‘n’ Roll, folk and much more.
This year’s festival was officially opened by fashion broadcaster and television celebrity, Laura Mullett, at a pleasant function held in Enniscorthy Festival on Friday evening.
