Only Wexford district remains to be tallied before the local election papers are transferred to St. Joseph’s Community Centre for the Count.
Non-Party first time candidate Patrick Barden looks like topping the poll in the New Ross district. He is on 17%, followed by Michael Sheehan (15%) and John Fleming.
In Rosslare district Ger Carthy has a massive lead on 25% followed by Frank Staples on 16%. Lisa McDonald and Michael Wallace are both on 10%
Kathleen Codd-Nolan on 14% and newcomer Cathal Byrne on 11% are leading the way in Enniscorthy district according to the tally figures.
John O’Rourke on 12% and Barbara-Anne Murphy on 11% are the only others on double figures, so it is going to be a hard slog to fill the remaining seats.
Malcolm Byrne will easily top the poll in Gorey district with a runaway 25% and Fianna Fáil are on course to get three seats.
Anthony Donohoe and Diarmuid Devereux are performing extremely well for Fine Gael.
Tally figures for Kilmuckridge district show Oliver Walsh and Mary Farrell both on 18%. Pip Breen comes in at 17% and Willie Kavanagh is on 15%. The rest are a long way down the line so it looks like two Fianna Fáil, one Fine Gael and Mary Farrell (Non-Party).
Boxes from Wexford are being tallied at present but no final tally is yet available.
