A large scale air and sea search is taking place off the south Wexford coast after the skipper of the local registered vessel ‘Ellie Adhamh’ went missing early this morning.
It is believed the man in his 40’s was reported missing at 5.45 am, 20 miles south of the Saltee Islands.
Rosslare Harbour RNLI launched at approximately 6 am at the request of the Irish Coast Guard following a report that a fisherman was missing from a trawler that left Rosslare in the early hours of this morning
Lifeboats from Rosslare Harbour RNLI and Kilmore Quay RNLI and Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 117 from Waterford, the CASA Air Corp Marine Surveillance Plane, along with local fishing vessels, are involved in the operation which is covering a 100 square miles area including the Saltee Islands.
