Borough Council office opens in The Bullring

New Wexford Borough Council offices relocated to The Bullring today.

The new Wexford Borough District Office of Wexford County Council opened to the public at The Bullring today in the former Permanent TSB Bank building.
The Wexford District Offices have relocated from the old County Hall on Spawell Road which had been home to the Borough District staff for the past eight years.
Wexford County Council has entered into a long term lease of the Bullring property which will secure the presence of the local authority offices in the town centre into the future.
Following significant investment by the Council and a six months extensive refurbishment programme completed by local contractor, John Gray Construction, the District Manager plus a team of 18 administrative and technical staff will be based in the new accommodation.
Wexford Borough District Manager, Angela Laffan, commented; “It is very important to Wexford County Council that we are as accessible to our customers as possible – and this includes physical location as well as all other forms of access. I am delighted to be returning to the heart of Wexford town where our elected members and staff are looking forward to working alongside the business and retail community in the delivery of local services to the people of Wexford.
“As we approach the local elections on May 24th and embrace recent changes to the local government system in County Wexford – including a stand-alone Wexford Borough District and a new Municipal District of Rosslare – the opening of these new Borough office coincides with the election of members to the new Council to serve the people of Wexford for the next five years. This investment by Wexford County Council in a prime town centre location will ensure timely and close engagement long into the future between the Council and the public whom we serve,” added Ms. Laffan.
Wexford’s Town Hall was previously located only a stone’s throw away in the Wexford Arts Centre building in Cornmarket prior to the purchase of the Old Tate School at Belvedere Road which became home to the then Wexford Corporation and known as the Municipal Buildings in the early 1950’s.
