Jockey James Walsh bounced back from a short injury to record a two lengths victory on Mossy Fen for the Monbeg Syndicate and handler Donnchadh Doyle at Loughbrickland, Co. Down, today.
Walsh, from Preban, Tinahely, is enjoying his best season and is on the 8-winner mark for 2018-19 after success in the maiden race for four year olds. Mossy Fen will go to the sales.
Another rider having his best season is Luke Murphy and he scored his 18th winner of the season on Sambremont by two lengths in the Open Race for Fermanagh handler, David Christie, who always uses Wexford riders for his runners.
Also at the northern track, Jamie Codd teamed up with Jim Dreaper for a four lengths success with Shopping Around in the maiden race for five and six year old mares.
In other local point-to-point news, Jack Hendrick, Mayglass, sustained a broken collarbone when his mount slipped up on a bend at Monksgrange recently, while Jamie Scallan, Tomhaggard, is also sidelined.
