The Goffs UK Aintree Sale took place at the famous Liverpool racecourse after the last race on Thursday evening, as usual Wexford owned, trained and bred horses were very much to the forefront of the evenings proceedings.

The Colin Bowe trained Papa Tango Charly (FR), topped the sale at £440,000, in doing so, the French bred gelding set a new sales record. Two weeks ago the 4yo gelding won his maiden at Liscarroll, in County Cork, fourteen years ago, Denman won the exact same race. He is owned by Una Connors in County Waterford, three years ago, the same connections landed another touch as Samcro was sold for £335,000 at the corresponding sale.

Donnchadh Doyle made the long journey to Portrush last Saturday worthwhile, Grandads Cottage easily took his maiden, and Olly Murphy went to £200,000 to secure the Shantou gelding.

Big Bresil, another from the Monbeg Stables, finished second to Papa Tango Charly in Liscarroll, and Roger Brookhousepurchased the French bred gelding for £170,000.
