Wexford lost out to Offaly, by an 18 point margin, in Saturday’s, Relegation Play Off, in Division 1 of the Littlewoods Ireland Camogie League, at Hawkfield, in Newbridge.
It was a difficult first match in charge for Wexford’s new manager, Buffers Alley man, Barry Kennedy.
Offaly were in the driving position from the very first whistle; at the break they held a 15 point advantage, 2-11 to 0-02.
Wexford had wind assistance for the second half, Mags Byrne scored a goal, Chloe Foxe made a welcome return, as she scored four points of the visitors tally.
Wexford will compete in division 2 next season, and the Intermediate team will be automatically dropped to division 3.
Attention will now focus on the group stages of the Senior All-Ireland Championship, Wexford are drawn in Group 1, consisting of, Offaly, Limerick, Kilkenny and Galway, with the first game, at home to Kilkenny on the 22nd of June.
