Another double for jockey Barry O’Neill

Barry O’Neill moved further ahead in the national riders’ championship with a double success at the East Down point-to-point at Tyrella today.
O’Neill won the mares maiden race for five and six year olds on Cream Sparkles for Fermanagh handler David Christie and he was chased home by two Wexford trained mares – Frank And Honest owned by John and Miriam Murphy, Inch, Gorey, and ridden by their son Luke, and Jamie Codd on the Thomas Cloke owned and Denis Murphy trained Rarest Diamond filled the third spot.
O’Neill and Christie went on to record a double when Kadmer took the Winner of Three race.
There was a Wexford one-two in the maiden race for five and six year old geldings with victory going the way of Ya Boy Ya, owned by the Orphan Girl Syndicate, Ballymoney, trained at Ballydarragh, Craanford, by Liam Kenny and ridden by his son, James, who was enjoying his ninth career winner.
The winning distance was four lengths with Denis Murphy’s Normofthenorth in the hands of Harley Dunne securing the runner-up placing.
There are 107 entries for the Carlow Farmers fixture at Borris House tomorrow. The first race is at 1 pm.
