Wexford took all three points on offer, in their Round 3 Lidl National Football League clash against Tyrone, this afternoon, in St Patrick’s Park, on a scoreline of 1-07 to 0-06. Katie White’s 22^nd minute goal in the second half pushed the home side a 4 point lead, 1-06 to 0-05.

The sides were level at the break, 3 points each; all the Wexford scores came from placed balls, Tara Doyle, Katie White, and Bernie Breen raised the white flag.

Following the restart Tyrone were quickest from the blocks, two early points saw them pull ahead, 0-05 to 0-03.

The accuracy of Ballygarrett’s, Tara Doyle, regained the Wexford lead, as she dispatched three placed balls over the bar; 10 minutes into the second half Wexford led 0-06 to 0-05.

The Wexford goal came in the 23^rd minute, and shortly afterwards, Amy Wilson, increased the home side’s advantage to 5 points.

Wexford were awarded a free out, following a missed opportunity from Tyrone to reduce the deficit, in the closing stages, and on the stroke of full time Tyrone scored a consolation point.

Next up will be an away trip to Kerry in round four in eight days time.
