After much preparation and hard work by the Hook Lighthouse team in order to attract new visitors from the Asian tourism market, the attraction welcomed its first large group of Chinese visitors.
Over the last number of months, the management team at Hook lighthouse have been working hard behind the scenes to attract new large groups of international visitors to the attraction and they have now received bookings.
The visit by the group was a huge success and the large group of Chinese visitors declared Hook Lighthouse as their favourite attraction following their tour. Hosted on their Irish trip by tour operator ‘Rachel Sunshine’.
The group from Beijing No 35 Middle School of 36 students and five leaders enjoyed lunch with a guided tour of the medieval tower and games on the lawn followed by special Hook seafood chowder.
Ready to greet them upon arrival was Billy Byrne, Head of Tourism at Wexford County Council, and Ann Waters, General Manager at Hook Lighthouse.
“We are delighted to see our hard work, research and investment in meeting opportunities with large group and tour operators along with creating translations of our tour experience and seeking out exactly what would be attractive for each international market segment is paying off,” said Ann Waters, who added: “This tour experience was an enormous success and we hope that it will be the first of many trips to the Hook peninsula and surrounding area for the Chinese visitors courtesy of Rachel Sunshine, tour operators for the Chinese market.
