Wexford camogie plunged into crisis

Wexford Camogie reached crisis level on Saturday as the county failed to field a team against Cork, as Martin Carey stepped down as the County Senior Camogie manager.

St Martin’s play in the All-Ireland semi-final this afternoon, as a result their players were unavailable for selection, that aside, numbers at Wexford training sessions have been poor.

Carey was appointed a little over a year ago, but the team had a poor year by their standards. Many have felt that the team has been on the slide from the three in a row era of 2010-12, as many of that star studded team have retired from the inter county scene for one reason or another.

Wexford also withdrew their Intermediate team from last year’s All-Ireland Intermediate camogie championship.

So the pressure in certainly on the Camogie County Board to find a replacement manager as quickly as possible.
