Luke Murphy saves the day for Wexford

It is a rare occurence when there is no Wexford trained winners in the point-to-points, but it happened today at two meetings at Dungarvan and Kilfeacle, which is located between Tipperary town and Cashel.
However, Inch, Gorey, rider Luke Murphy saved the day for the Wexfordians when winning on Shanacoole for the Cork-based Motherway family in the maiden race for six year olds and older in the final race at the west Waterford track.
It was Murphy’s eighth winner of the season and his 25th career success.
Meanwhile, Wexford Hunt point-to-point takes place at Moorefields, Ballinaboola, New Ross, next Sunday, February 3rd, with the first race off at 1 pm.
There is a Winners of Three and five maiden races on the card, including the first four year old maiden of the year, and competitive racing is anticipated.

SEAN O’KEEFFE picked up an injury at Naas today.

NEWS FROM THE TRACK
Young Taghmon jockey Sean O’Keeffe sustained a suspected broken collarbone when his mount Gracious Gamble came down in a hurdle race at Naas on Sunday.
O’Keeffe was booked to ride Latest Exhibition in the bumper later in the day, unfortunately, he missed a winning ride as Jim Mernagh’s (Coolamurray Stud, Davidstown, Enniscorthy) home-bred scored for trainer Paul Nolan and replecement rider Max Browne.
JJ Slevin, Caim, had a big day at Cheltenham on Saturday winning on the Joseph O’Brien trained Fakir D’oundairies by 13 lengths in the Grade 2 juvenile hurdle.
