Davy Fitzgerald confirmed as Sixmilebridge coach for 2019

According to a report in the Clare Champion’s, on-line platform, dated yesterday, the 25th of January, “Sixmilebridge have confirmed that Davy Fitzgerald will be the coach of their senior hurlers in 2019”.

The report goes on to say, “the current Wexford boss joins up with a backroom team headed up by club stalwart Tim Crowe with Timmy Crowe also involved as fitness trainer along with Paddy Meehan as selector. Crowe takes over from the outgoing John O’Meara, who guided the Bridge to the title in 2013, 2015 and 2017”.

This is not the news Wexford hurling fans needed to hear, ahead of their clash, against Limerick, on the opening weekend of the Allianz Hurling League, this is Fitzgerald’s third season at the helm in Wexford, and many people feel that the team has advanced under the Clare man.

In an unusual move at Bellefield during the Walsh Cup, he watched the game from high up in the stand, behind the glass.
