Enniscorthy Ladies Seconds had a decisive victory at home in the Astro Active Centre against Genesis 6ths. Winning on a scoreline of 8-0, the home side showed composure and determination to bring their position higher in the league.
With Genesis using a kicking back, Enniscorthy were determined to use this to their advantage. Within the first ten minutes, Ciara Parnell scored from a penalty corner. The pressure mounted by the attack through a high press assured that any ball the opposition claimed was soon dispossessed by an Enniscorthy player. Two more goals were slotted past the Genesis defence before the half time whistle was blown, with Parnell getting on the scoresheet again.
The second half saw the home side even more determined to seal a big victory. While some pressure did begin to make its way into the defence, D’Alton, Creed, Bolger and Nic Corcráin dealt with matters quickly and in a composed manner. Short corner opportunities came and were utilised, with Ciara Yates scouting a hat trick within a few minutes and Sinnott converting soon after. Redmond sealed the deal to put weight between the sides as the final whistle blew.
Enniscorthy played a free flowing game, with great off the ball movement and accurate passing paying off with the 8-0 scoreline testament to their effort. Genesis fought a valiant fight, but the home sides work rate and communication ensured that they would be the ones to come away with the victory.
