Gold Time wins for Corrigans of Blackwater

KEVIN CORRIGAN

Just one point-to-point today at Boulta, Co. Cork, where there was a small Wexford representation, but it was a triumphant visit by the Corrigan cousins from Blackwater, Martin and Kevin, who won the mares maiden race with Gold Time.
There was only a length to spare at the finish, but owner and trainer, Martin Corrigan was delighted, and his jockey Kevin Corrigan, (19), both living in the townland of Ballinaclash, was enjoying his third career success and his second winner this season.
Barry O’Neill must have felt good about his chances after Michael Sweeney made a serious blunder on Ask Heather but performed heroics to get back into the saddle and beat O’Neill’s mount, Fort Worth Texas, by four lengths.
O’Neill was riding Colin Bowe’s charge in the mares’ Winner of Two, but afterwards left the track and travelled to Thurles where he gained some compensation with a victory Ucello Conti in the hunters’ chase.
Luke Murphy and Rob James managed each to get into a runner-up spot, but the single sucess belonged to the Corrigans.

VIDEO ADDITION; Extraordinary recovery by jockey Michael Sweeney on Ask Heather in the Mares Winner of Two race at Boulta today. Barry O’Neill on Fort Worth Texas finished second.
