At Monday’s monthly meeting held at Carriglawn, Wexford County Council has agreed that the existing two-way traffic system at Templehannon, Enniscorthy, remain in place.
The matter arose following a special meeting of Enniscorthy Municipal District Council held in December for the purpose of discussing the Templeshannon Regeneration Scheme and following that meeting a recommendation was brought to January’s full meeting of Council members.
Eddie Taaffe, Director of services, told the meeting that following consideration of the Chief Executive’s Report on the proposed street works and one-way system for Templeshannon the Municipal District Council agreed to recommend to the County Council that the proposed development not be proceeded with in accordance with the proposal, and that the existing two-way traffic system in Templeshannon remain in place.
The recommendation was accepted without objections.
The members also requested that further work be undertaken, taking account of the issues raised by them at the meeting, to address the traffic concerns raised in relation to the current proposal.
The proposed works in Templeshannon are being planned in line with the Regeneration Strategy and was adopted by Enniscorthy Municipal District Council in January 2018.
Consultations and public meetings were held on the matter which yielded many objections to the traffic management plan.
