Two point-to-point meetings today and three Wexford trained winners across the country. The Mainstown fixture deferred from December went ahead in Kilkenny where Karen’s Gift scored by two and a half lengths in the maiden race for five year old mares.

TIERNAN POWER ROCHE explains how he steered his winner at Mainstown.
Third on her first run, Karen’s Gift is owned by Martin Power and an eight-member syndicate from Temple Bar, Rathangan, trained locally by John Martin Walsh and Tiernan Power Roche was in the saddle.
Barry O’Neill and Colin Bowe teamed up to win the maiden race for five year old mares at Templenanacarriga, near Midletown, Co. Cork, by ten lengths with Streets of Fire, running in the colours of Thomas Cloke.
Pierce Power from the Hook saddled Alexandra Gardner’s Burning Ambition and with Jack Hendrick, Mayglass, up, was an impressive winner of the Open Lightweight Race which was confined to novice riders.
Action returns to the south-east next Sunday when the Shillelagh & District Hunt races take place at Fairwood, Tinahely, with an Open Lightweight, Winners of One and four maiden races on the card. The first race is off at 12 noon.
