T.D. addressed Sinn Fein tribute to Mellows

Waterford Sinn Féin T.D. David Cullinane addressed the annual Liam Mellows commemoration organised by North Wexford Sinn Féin and held in Castletown Cemetery on Sunday.
Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Trade with special responsibility for Brexit and all-Ireland spokesperson on Worker’s Rights, Deputy Cullinane told the gathering that “republican socialist Liam Mellows holds a special placein my heart.”
In his welcome Cllr Fionntán Ó Suileabháin said it was heartening to see such a large gathering from near and far on a cold winters day to honour one of Irelands greatest – Republican, Socialist, Gaeilgeoir, 1916 leader of the Western Division, key linkman in the United States, Teachta Dála as well as Director of Supplies for the IRA.
He said Liam Mellows, who while a prisoner in Moutjoy, was executed by Free State forces 96 years ago, on December 8th 1922 during the Civil War (or the counter-revolution as his friend Máire Comerford called it).
Cllr Johnny Mythen, Sinn Féin’s general election candidate for the Wexford constituency presided over a wreath laying ceremony.
The Vol. Ed O’Brien Flute Band and a Colour Party were also involved in the ceremony.
