Wexford TD James Browne is calling on County Wexford farmers to examine the review of the Areas of Natural Constraints (ANC) Scheme for 2019.
The ANC Scheme offers County Wexford farmers a vital support if a range of bio physical criteria affects their land. The Scheme covers roughly 2,000 townlands across the country, with many Wexford farms included.
A review of the ANC areas has now been carried out. 750 farmers from across the country will be negatively impacted by the review’s proposed changes.
“County Wexford is one of the very worst affected counties. The review marked parts of the county to lose ANC status in 2019, including areas located in the south, east and north. For farmers negatively affected, they may suffer significant financial hardship”, Deputy Browne explained.
“If land is deemed no longer eligible for the ANC Scheme, I encourage land-owners to lodge an appeal with the independent appeals committee and to contact my office on 053-9235046”, Deputy Browne concluded.
