Riley the female long-haired terrier has returned to a legends welcome in The Ballagh after being missing for almost two months before turning up unexpectedly in the North Cork town of Mallow.
Riley went missing from the family home on September 11th and her concerned family immediately made appeals on Facebook and contacted the WSPCA in Wexford town in the belief that she may still be close to home.
But to no avail until last week when the family received a phone call from the Pound in Mallow saying that Riley was in custody having been identified by her micro-chip details.

RILEY takes a back seat on her way home to The Ballagh.
Apparently, the loving family pet was taken from her home and may have been abandoned when she strolled into a farmyard in Churchtown.
The lady of the house took a liking to her at first, but later felt that Riley might desire to see her real home again, so she then went to the Pound where Riley was identified through her life-saving micro-chip details and arrangements were made to return her to the family fireside in The Ballagh.
Into the car off they went to Mallow. “She wasn’t very excited to see us when we arrived,” said a spokesperson for Riley, “but when she arrived on the family floor she hopped on the couch and realised she was home and she couldn’t contain her excitement.”
Despite her adventurous ordeal Riley returned home in good health and her family are delighted to have her back.
There is strict surveilance around the clock that The Ballagh’s canine hero will be kept safely and will overcome all the commotion and distress in familiar comfort.
She is more popular now that she has lived to tell the tale!
