The highlight of today’s racing at Bettyville Park was a treble for jockey Paul Townend – two of them for the powerful Willie Mullins yard – and a treat for the punters as there were six winning favourites and one winning joint-favourite from eight races.
Paul Nolan had a most frustrating day with four ‘seconds’ – Jim Mernagh’s Lady of the Sea; Cresus De Grissay for owner Anne Coffey; Peculiar Genius running in the colours of Manverton Limited; and Positive Outlook in the bumper for joint-owners Jim Mernagh and Nick Doyle.
There was also racing at Galway where Wexford jockey Sean Flanagan rode three winners, two of the trained by Colin Bowe at Kiltealy – Western Victory (20/1) in the mares’ maiden hurdle and Sweet Home Chicago (9/1) by nine lengths in the Miriam Hand ‘Play in the Pink Fundraiser’ Hurdle.
There are 88 entries for eight races for Bank Holiday Monday racing at Wexford which features the only Listed Race at the track – the MW Hickey Memorial Chase at 3.10 pm.
Ruby Walsh is teaming up with Willie Mullins and Mr Blue Sky which appears to be a winning combination.
This is the final race meeting at Bettyville Park this year and racing will resume again on St. Patrick’s Day, March 25th 2019.
First race is at 12.20 pm.
Admission is €15; OAPs and Students €10; Children under 14 go free!
