HOCKEY; Enniscorthy bow to unbeaten Skerries

SKERRIES 2 ENNISCORTHY 1

Enniscorthy ladies second XI travelled to unbeaten Skerries on Saturday where the hosts began brightly, working their way through a tigerish Enniscorthy defence to open the goalscoring.
The visitors worked hard to get back into the game, Nic Corcráin combining well with D’Alton, Dempsey and Yates. It was a foul on Treacy, though, which lead to Enniscorthy’s equaliser, as from it the Wexford side were awarded a penalty corner.
Kelly received the push out; the ball made its way to Redmond and Gainford found the net.
Level at the break, Skerries had the better of the second half exchanges, working Power and Bolger hard at the back for Enniscorthy, while Medcalf was forced into a goal- bound shot.
However, the north county Dublin side eventually pulled ahead to claim all three points.
Squad: Alice Medcalf, Eleanor Bolger, Saoirse Power, Amy D’Alton, Muireann Nic Corcráin, Laura Redmond, Megan Dempsey, Alice Kelly, Róisín Treacy, Ciara Yates, Ciara Parnell, Bridget Gainford, Martha Dunne.
Enniscorthy now have a break before their next league encounter when they travel to Bray on November 10th.
