A 33-strong delegation from the Guild of Freemen of the City of London, led by the Master, John Barber, were afforded a civic reception at Enniscorthy Castle today.

The group is spending a week in Ireland and staying in Enniscorthy and they were given a warm welcome to the Cathedral town by the Chairman of Enniscorthy Municipal District, Cllr Willie Kavanagh.
Cllr Kavanagh gave an outline of the castle history and spoke of many projects are either planned or have commenced in and around Enniscorthy.
Mr. Barber spoke glowingly about Enniscorthy and is encouraging investors to consider the town for future projects.
Tom Banville, Head of Enterprise Wexford, spoke of the progress that was taking place across the county in Wexford, Gorey and Enniscorthy, and he painted a picture of a bright future for investment and confidence in the town and district.
Maree Lyng, President, Enniscorthy Chamber of Commerce, also addressed the large attendance and concluded that Enniscorthy has a prosperous future ahead of it.
The attendance also included Cllr Keith Doyle, a native of the town and Chairman of Wexford County Council and Colm Neville, Chairman of Wexford County Tourism.
The reception which included a large selection of locally produced food and drinks concluded with a few presentations to Mr. Barber to mark the group’s successful and enjoyable visit to Enniscorthy.
Earlier the groups had been taken on a walking tour of Enniscorthy, including a visit to Pugin’s St. Aidan’s Cathedral and St. Mary’s Church of Ireland, by local historian Aidan Ryan and Liz Hore from the Council.
