If it’s the fireworks…it must be Wexford Festival Opera

The fireworks traditionally signal the opening of the Wexford Festival Opera.

Despite being a progressive international opera festival since 1951, the modern Wexford Festival Opera is defined by the quality of the fireworks – fifteen minutes of quayside illuminations enjoyed by young and old alike, and an amazing family occasion – and it takes place tonight at 7 pm.
Of course, the fireworks follows the opening speeches on Wexford Quay and the Minister for Culture, Josepha Madigan will officially open the 67th Wexford Festival Opera.
Mayor of Wexford, Cllr Tony Dempsey, and the Chairman of Wexford Festival, Ger Lawlor, will also address the few thousands who are expected to attend, and the good news is that the weather forcecast is expected to be family friendly.
Traffic restrictions will be in place and Wexford Bridge and the quays will be closed to traffic from 5 pm and both routes expected to re-open around 8.30 pm.
