Rosslare Harbour RNLI all-weather lifeboat based at Rosslare Europort completed a successful mission on Tuesday when launched by volunteers at 9.40 am to assist a motor cruiser with engine failure.
The 46-ft motor cruiser which had travelled from Sharpness on the Severn estuary, developed engine failure 20 miles south east of Rosslare Europort, off the south east Wexford coast.
The four crew on board were all in good spirits and unharmed.
A breezy morning with winds from the south west reaching 26 kph.
The lifeboat reached the cruiser within the hour and there followed a three hour tow back to Rosslare Europort where they moored up in safety.
Speaking after the call out, Jamie Ryan, Rosslare Harbour RNLI Volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer praised the RNLI volunteers for such a swift launch and returning the casualty to port so quickly as the winds were due to increase in strength.
