Oulart-The Ballagh and St Martin’s both advance to the Senior Camogie final following their semi-final victories at Bellefield on Sunday.
Oulart-The Ballagh 3-10
St Ibars 0-05
In the first of Sundays Senior semi finals Oulart-The Ballagh brushed off the challenge of St Ibars without much fuss winning on a scoreline of 3.10 to 5 points. In a very stop start first half Oulart went in at half time leading on a scoreline of 2.05 to 0-01 point with Anais Curran bagging both goals for Oulart.
The second half was a closer affair with little scoring but St Ibars missed a chance to close the deficit with a penalty saved from Ciara Storey, soon after captain Ursula Jacob bagged her teams third goal and Oulart cruised to the finishing line and back into the county final after a two year absence. St Ibars’ year came to an end on a low note and were really missing the experience of Kate Kelly with youngster Lauren Murphy scoring all 5 points for her team.
St Martin’s 0-09
Rathnure 0-08
Champions St Martins needed extra time to see off Rathnure in a repeat of the 2017 final. The game lacked free flowing hurling with both teams being very defensive minded and the scoreline of 9 points to 8 after 80 minutes of camogie backs it up. However this will not bother St Martins as like there senior men they on course to do the 2 in a row senior championships. St Martins went in at half time leading 5 points to 4 with Rathnures Jackie Quigley getting all her sides scores from frees. St Martins had a penalty saved on the stroke of half time with Linda Bolger popping over the resulting 45 to give her side the advantage at the break.
After a scrappy second half Quigley scored her sides only point from play with time almost up to level the match and send it to extra time, 7 points each.
Amazingly there was no scores in the first period of extra time, a Chole Fox free and an Anna Hennessy point secured victory for St Martins before Quigley got her sides last score from a free with time up, leaving St Martins on top with a scoreline of 9 points to 8.
