More than 150 post offices nationwide are to close as part of a deal reached between An Post and the Irish Postmasters’ Union and eleven of them are located in Co. Wexford.
They are Ballywilliam, Ballycogley, Bannow, Broadway, Camolin, Coolgreany, Duncannon, Foulksmills, Glynn, Kilmore Quay and Kiltealy.
The deal sees 159 postmasters retire and their offices close, but An Post points out that all of the offices which are due to close are within 15km of at least one other post office.
An Post also said that all are in locations with populations of less than 500 people.
Closing post offices will be consolidated with neighbouring offices, ensuring their viability.
