Orphaned filly crowned “Champion” at Dublin Horse Show

Ballykelly Eva- Champion Filly

The home bred, Ballykelly Eva, owned by Margaret Jeffares, was crowned the Champion Filly at the 2018 Dublin Horse Show.

The bay 3yo filly is by OBOS Quality (OLD), her dam, Corrib Eva (ISH) died when she was born, credit must go to both Margaret and her, husband, Des, who produced the youngster to win this coveted prize.

Margaret and Des are based at their Ballykelly Farm, Drinagh, close to Wexford town, in fact their horses all carry the Ballykelly prefix. Margaret is originally from Quin in County Clare, and developed an interest for showing horses at a young age.

Ballykelly Farm is also home to “Mr Jeffares Blackcurrants” in fact blackcurrants have been grown on the farm since 1955.
