Before departing for the summer holidays, David Staunton, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Justice and Equality with special responsibility for Equality, Immigration and Integration, announced that three Wexford-based organisations will receive funding under the 2018 Communities Integration Fund.
Access 2000 (Wexford) CLG and Sports Active Wexford (Wexford Sports Partnership) will each receive €5,000, while Ferns Diocesan Youth Service will benefit by €3,950.
Commenting on the good news, North Wexford’s Minister Michael D’Arcy said: “The Communities Integration Fund is a really important scheme designed to encourage and assist migrant integration and social inclusion in communities. I am delighted that three organisations in Wexford will receive grants of up to €5,000 each under this fund.”

Minister D’Arcy said these funds are crucial to enabling local communities to come together and develop the understanding that will serve as the foundation for stronger, more integrated communities in the future.
“Through the Communities Integration Fund, the Government recognises that integration must happen at a grassroots level and that local community groups and organisations play a crucial role in this process,” he added.
115 grass root organisations will benefit nationwide from the 2018 fund and the total amount awarded is just over €500,000.
The projects selected for funding this year include: inter-cultural festivals and events, including food festivals; initiatives to promote migrant participation in sports and address barriers to participation in local sports clubs; projects aimed at building the capacity of female migrants to engage with their local communities; local anti-racism actions; projects supporting elderly migrants; and projects supporting LGBT migrants.
