Enniscorthy gets €2.5m Technology Park

The first sod has been turned at Enniscorthy Business and Technology Park which is a €2.5 million project to be built beside the River Slaney on a 35-acre site at Killagoley on what was once part of the the farm land for St. Senan’s Hospital.
Today’s ceremony was conducted by the Chairman of Wexford County Council, Cllr Keith Doyle, who is a native of the town.
Cllr Doyle said Phase One of the development will commence on site on Monday week and the contract has been awarded to a local Enniscorthy firm – Niall Barry & Company Ltd.
“The Technology Park has the potential to bring hundreds of jobs to Enniscorthy and will be the key to economic revitalisation of Enniscorthy town. The future for the Enniscorthy area promises to be a bright one,” said Cllr Doyle.
Tom Enright, Wexford County Council Chief Executive Officer said it was” a very important day, not just for Enniscorthy, but for County Wexford, and today we make a confident and strong step forward on the future economic and social progress of Enniscorthy.”
“Much is planned to make Enniscorthy a more attractive and more vibrant place,” said Mr Enright, who added; “This business park will fulfill a number of functions; it will provide locations for existing Wexford companies to expand, it will provide sites for new companies from outside of the county to locate to, it will provide quality buildings for new and emerging companies and it will be location of an exciting new international project in partnership with a number of agencies which will be announced in the coming months.”
Part of Wexford County Council’s ‘Economic and Community Investment Programme, 2018-2022’, Mr Enright, said: “As Wexford continues to experience economic recovery, it is important that the Council acts decisively to lead the development and delivery of a range of targeted initiatives that will help the county to realise the huge potential it has in terms of jobs, quality of life and environment.”
The attendance included Ministers Paul Kehoe and Michael D’Arcy, Deputies James Browne and Brendan Howlin, Cllrs Willie Kavanagh, Kathleen Codd-Nolan, Barbara-Anne Murphy, Paddy Kavanagh, Jim Moore and Malcolm Byrne, Wexford County Council officials including Liz Hore, District Manager, John Carley, Director of Services, Eamonn Hore and Tony Larkin, Brendan McDonnell, IDA, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, Niall Barry & Company Ltd, and other invited guests.
