The Killinick rider took third place in the 4yo qualifier at the Tattersalls July Show on Saturday afternoon, it is the only qualifier to be staged in Ireland, the top three horses in the class, from a start list of 46, earned the right to compete in the final at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, from the 30th of August to the 2nd of September.
The four year old, chestnut gelding, was ridden and owned by Ann, bred by Michael Reck, Oylegate, is by the thoroughbred sire, Robin de la Maison, out of the Cavalier Royale mare, Lady Sorrento.
The “Burghley Young Event Horse” is a hugely popular competition, it has been integral to Burghley Horse Trials for over 30 years, and is acknowledged as the shop window to view potential ‘four star’ horses at an early age.
The judges look for an athletic, loose moving horse with a promising jumping technique and attitude which, with correct training and production, will develop physically and mentally into a strong three day eventer.
The competition is judged over four sections: Dressage, Jumping, Conformation & Quality and Suitability & Potential.
