Wexford County Council’s ambitious plans for the comprehensive re-development of a 10-acre iconic site in the heart of Wexford town took a significant step forward when the Council presented the draft masterplan for the overall development of Trinity Wharf to a meeting of the members of Wexford Borough District.
The Trinity Wharf site overlooks Wexford Harbour and is close to the Crescent and Wexford town centre.

Wexford County Council recently acquired the entire site and Chief Executive, Tom Enright, has secured the support of the Council in developing the lands into a high-quality business park to include a mix of modern office space, hotel accommodation, multi-storey car parking, a landmark cultural and events multi-use building and 60 residential units. The proposed development also includes the provision of a 61-berth marina and a new boardwalk linking Trinity Wharf to Paul Quay and the Crescent.
It is estimated that Trinity Wharf has the capacity to create over 1,000 jobs in the technology and financial services sectors over the next five to 10 years.
Council’s Head of Special Projects Brian Galvin outlined the main elements of the plan and the projected timeline for its delivery.
“Site development works, including access, roads, footpaths, lighting, water and ICT services will be constructed by Wexford County Council” said Mr. Galvin, adding “The Council will also develop the public realm, cultural and multi-event spaces detailed in the Plan, while the offices and commercial buildings will be delivered through a series public-private-partnerships.”
Mayor of Wexford Cllr Tony Dempsey praised the progress made and promised the full support of the elected members in advancing the project, describing Trinity Wharf as “an example of local government performance at its best, with the Council taking a lead role in the creation of local employment opportunities through the provision of a progressive, modern and fit-for-purpose working environment designed to meet the needs of employers who wish to develop new or expand existing businesses in County Wexford.”
The Plan is expected to be placed on public display informally within the next few weeks to allow the public to view the overall draft and offer their comments.
A planning decision from An Bord Pleanala on the Trinity Wharf development is expected by Spring/Summer 2019 and if approved, construction is expected to commence by the end of 2019.
