Renowed actor and Gap Arts Festival director, Gareth Keogh, was unable to make it to Gorey Civic Centre this evening, but the launch of the eight years of the festival went ahead as planned with Jacinta McGovern delivering the good news for August 10-12th weekend.

At the launch of the 2018 Gap Arts Festival in Gorey Civic Centre this evening were Cllr Fionntan O’Suilleabhain, Amanda Byrne, Gorey District Manager, Mary Fleming, Myles Carroll, Jacinta McGovern, Aisling Leonard, Fionn agus Rua de Faoite (in the front).

“Out at Ballythomas there is no village, no crossroads, no theatre, but every year we build one, and bring professional theatre, film, music, art poetry and workshops,” said Ms McGovern.
She outlined that in eight years, 19 artists have hosted 39 theatre, photography, poetry, dance, drama, painting, puppetry, film-making and storytelling workshops with over 1,200 participants, young and old.
This years’ highlight will be the premiere of a short film on Titania’s Palace, “From Kilanerin to Legoland” which is is a Sunday lunchtime special.
Saturday night will be extraordinary too! They have the Gig@The Gap – six hours of local bands from 6.30 pm to 12.30 am. Beat that for stamina!
The Gap Arts Festival was recognised last year as “a unique festival” and awarded the prestigeous EFFE Label by the European Festivals Association.
