Doyle Brothers spend big at the Derby sale

The Doyle brothers, from Ballindaggin, trading under “Monbeg Stables” were the leading purchasers at the recent Derby Sale in Tattersalls. Their total spend was just shy of 1.6 million euro, 29 horses, averaging just over 43,000 euro each. Add this to the 629,000 euro they spent at the Goffs Land Rover Sale a few week earlier on another 17 horses.

Highflyer Bloodstock, one of the UK’s largest bloodstock agents, also went over the one million euro mark at the Tattersalls Sale, Gordon Elliott spent 775,000 euro, and another Wexford trainer, Colin Bowe, spent almost half a million euro on his 10 purchases.

On the evidence of these sales Wexford handlers will continue to dominate the point-to-point scene in Ireland, it is hard to believe, but in less than 3 months time, the Autumn season will be underway.
