Wexford 3-13
Dublin 1-22
Seven hundred plus fans witnessed Wexford lose out to Kilkenny in a thrilling Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Hurling semi-final to Dublin by 3 points, on a scoreline of 1-22 to 3-13, at Innovate Wexford Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Dubs led at halftime 0-13 to to 1-08; the Wexford goal came from Richie Lawlor late in the half.
Shortly after the re-start Dublin scored a very soft goal to knock the home side back on their hocks: this put the gap back to 5 points.
AJ Redmond pointed from a free to level the sides after 11 minutes, however that was short lived as Dublin took the lead.
Josh Sheil proved to be an inspirational substitute as he scored Wexford’s second goal with his very first touch, Josh rose highest from a high ball to bat the ball to the back of the net.
Wexford held a one point lead with fourteen minutes to go, a penalty decision does not go our way, a missed free, some let offs, but with 9 minutes things are all square again.
The visitors finished strongly to outscore Wexford 0-6 to 1-0, the goal came deep into injury time, three points between the teams a late 21 yard free went high and wide.
When a Wexford team loses and still gets clapped off the field you know they have given it everything. Heart breaking loss but serious effort from the minors. Could have gone either way @OfficialWexGAA
