Wexford TDs meeting on mental health services

All five Wexford TDs – Ministers Paul Kehoe and Michael D’Arcy and Deputies Brendan Howlin, James Browne and Mick Wallace – are due to meet the Minister of State for Mental Health, Jim Daly, to discuss the concerns surrounding mental health services. Fine Gael Minister Paul Kehoe has confirmed that the urgent meeting will take place on Wednesday evening in Leinster House, adding that he will be seeking a detailed briefing from the Department of Health and the HSE regarding children’s access to psychiatric care.
Minister Kehoe has also written to senior Health Minister, Simon Harris, on the back of recent resignations of senior doctors.
He spoke to Minister Daly by telephone today and sought that the issue of psychiatric care be top priority at the meeting.
“When it comes to our mental health services, there can be no place for party politics. I know that the five TDs in the county are all anxious to ensure we have the best possible mental health services for the South East,” he added.
