Gorey Agricultural Show set to draw the crowds

Grand National winning jockey, Paul Carberry and his daughter, Kacey-Lou, competed in last years Pairs Relay at Gorey Show

The first of the summer shows take place at Clonattin, Gorey, on Saturday where large crowds are expected to attend the many classes and exhibits at the 159th Gorey Agricultural Show.
Many events are qualifiers for finals later in the year, especially for the Horse Show at the RDS in August, so the standard of competition will be top class and highly competitive in all areas.
The heart of the show is the Trade Stands and the demand for places this year has been one of the highest received by the organisers.
The fresh produce tent will showcase the best of locally grown food and vegetables.
Cattle and sheep will dominate the animal classes, while the showjumping and other horse classes will be in action all day.
The Dog Show is also a massively competitive event with all breeds and sizes competing for prizes.
There is also a family fun and entertainment side to the big day and Theresa and the Stars, Louise Morrissey, The Thunderbirds, and Dancing with Declan will be there to entertain.
Chairman of the Show, Willie Cecil told WexfordToday.com that the success of the show year after year was down to the hardworking volunteers who have spent all this week getting the land ready and he is hoping for a large attendance.
“We are in walking distance of the town and just off the motorway at junction 22 and everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a day at the Gorey Agricultural Show,” he said.
