Parkbytext app coming to four Wexford towns

The towns of Wexford, Gorey, Enniscorthy and New Ross are set to have E-Parking using a parkbytext app that allows the customer to use their mobile phones to pay their parking fees easily and quickly, and to ‘top up’ the parking fee, meaning no more rushing back to the car at the end of the payment period to avoid a fine.
Cathaoirleach of Wexford County Council, Cllr John Hegarty, and Director of Services, Eamonn Hore, signed a Contract with representatives Sean O’Dwyer, IT Director, and Andrew Cosgrove, Marketing Manager of parkbytext in County Hall, Wexford, last Thursday.
“Wexford has always been a progressive county and we are constantly looking for new ways, particularly in the use of modern technology, to improve our services to the public” said Cathaoirleach Hegarty, who added; parkbytext is a perfect example, using today’s technology to improve existing services and offer additional convenience, flexibility and peace of mind to those who work in or visit our main towns.”

Mr Hore said; parkbytext has the capacity of bring considerable benefits for the retail and tourism sectors in our main urban areas.” He added; “It is important also to reassure the public that this new method of parking payment will complement – not replace – our current parking meter payment facilities. It simply offers an alternative and easy-to-use payment method to those who use our parking services”.
Mr. Hore congratulated parkbytext on winning the tender following a detailed procurement process. Works on the project will commence in the coming weeks with a go-live date planned for September 2018.
