Eight Wexford schools chosen for creative scheme

Children in Wexford have been chosen to participate in a pilot Creative Schools scheme and eight schools will be involved from this September.
The schools are: Scoil Naomh Maodhóg, Ferns, Scoil Mhuire, Davidstown, and Kiltealy National School in the Enniscorthy district;
Ballycullane National School and Bunscoil Rís Edmund Rice Senior Primary in New Ross area;
Bunscoil Loreto and Creagh College in Gorey and Loreto Secondary School in Wexford town.
Creative Ireland is the Government’s Legacy Programme for Ireland 2016, the year of commemorations. Creative Ireland puts culture and creativity at the centre of public policy, which will benefit artists and citizens here in Wexford and nationwide.

The announcement has been welcomde by Wexford’s two Fine Gael Ministers Michael D’Arcy and Paul Kehoe.
“I have no doubt the scheme will prove a great success,” Minister D’Arcy said.
“Art and music are a part of who we are as a nation,” said Minister Paul Kehoe.
The scheme was launched by Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan and Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton and is due to begin this September.
