With another successful season behind them the Sinnottstown Lane- based club, Wexford Celtic FC, are celebrating with the annual BBQ and the 50th anniversary celebrations are also getting into full swing.
The club will be 50 years old on September 13th and was formed as a men’s only club in 1968, however, the club has grown through the years and now has sections catering for schoolboys, women and schoolgirls.
Currently Wexford Celtic FC has 311 members ranging in ages from five all the way up to 30 plus!
The BBQ is a regular event and they have had special guests like Danny Brosnan, Stephen Hunt, and Danny Furlong.
“In previous years we have donated some of our fundraising to the Irish Cancer Society and other local charities,” said John Harpur, who added: “
This year were going all out having partnered up with a new company called Slam- The party People (https://www.facebook.com/thepartypeoplewexford/) who have given up there time and games to us for the day.”
They are bringing a 22 ft slide, Bouncy Castle, Toddlers play area, and lots of family fun games from Limbo, Know the Potato, Fishing pool, Soak the coach and loads.
The BBQ is on from 11 am to 4 pm on Saturday, June 16th. Entry is €3 for adults and €2 for kids. All the games inside are free with hotdogs, sausages, burgers and a shop all available for a small donation.
All funds raised this year are going towards pitch repair after the great season of games held on it. The under 15A team won their division and the under 14B squad finished second in their division only losing three games all season.
All are welcome.
