On your bike! cycling trail covers three counties

BUNCLODY TOURISM. Promoting the Mount Leinster area and guiding visitors throughout the year.

The Nine Stones Cycling Loop Trail is a Co. Wexford-based Cycling Trail within the Wexford Trails family together with Wexford Walking Trails, Wexford Garden Trail, Wexford Craft Trail and Wexford Heritage Trail. What a mouthful to get started with!
While the Nine Stones Cycle Loop Trail traverses County Wexford for the most part, it also enters parts of neighbouring counties Carlow and Wicklow, and a safe return is guaranteed!
The South-East’s newest cycle loop is a total of almost 120 km of sign-posted cycle route across some of the most breathtaking scenery that you’ll not find anywhere, designed to challenge cyclists who will encounter 1600 metres of climbing, but they will be amply rewarded for their efforts, with some fabulous scenery and stunning views – most notably Sliabh Bhuí and the Nine Stones (at the summit of Mount Leinster) where legends of Kings and Celtic Druids are rumoured to still linger!
Wexford County Council Cycling Officer, Frank Burke, is encouraging all cycling enthusiasts to place the Nine Stones Cycle Loop firmly on their itinerary.
“The Nine Stones cycle route is aimed at cyclists that want a challenge with a difference” said Frank. “Indeed the M9 to Bunclody provides access to this cycle loop for other counties, while cyclists approaching Wexford from the north can also access the route via the M11 to Gorey.”

The picturesque loop traverses some beautiful locations with stunning scenery and a fantastic range of points of interest passing through towns and villages in the heart of rural Ireland.

Key locations include Bunclody, where you can enjoy the picturesque town with its tree-lined mall; Ferns, a typical rural village with its Norman castle a highlight; Gorey, where a food stop is a necessity with a variety of excellent eating stops; and the heights of Sliabh Bhui and The Nine Stones on the summit of Mount Leinster with breath taking scenery over the lush green landscape of South Leinster. The picturesque villages of Kiltealy, The Harrow, Ballycanew, Clough, Camolin, and Carnew are also located along the 120 km route.
Give it a try sometime! Appears to be an appetising challenge from the saddle.
