Wexford Town Innovation District Event

A Driving Economic Growth Event will take place this Thursday 3rd May 2018 at The Gallery at Green Acres Wexford Town.   The event begins at 6pm and it is a call to action event where attendees are encouraged to engage, connect and collaborate.

The objective is to position Wexford and the South East as a Global Innovation Hub by 2020.

Join Michael O Gorman and Paul Cummings this Thursday 3rd May 2018 in The Gallery at Green Acres, North Main Street, Wexford Town, to hear from an impressive line-up of industry leaders and academics in a stimulating blend of key-note addresses and a fireside discussion.

Innovation and entrepreneurship drive economic growth, propel job creation, and create opportunities for upward economic mobility.  According to the respected US Kauffman Foundation, “new and young businesses create nearly all net new jobs… if you want new jobs, then you want new and young firms.

Wexford is a great place to live but we need to create greater work opportunities. We need to combine the economic, physical and networking assets in the South East of Ireland to optimise the potential of Wexford as a place in which to live and work.

This ‘call to action’ event is being hosted as a platform from which to communicate, collaborate and connect.

The speakers are:

1. Dr. John Breslin, Co Founder of the PorterShed and Senior Lecturer and Director of TechInnovate at NUI Galway, who will speak about how to build an Innovation Community.
2. Mary Rodgers is the Community Innovation Manager of  the success story that is the PorterShed

A ‘fireside’ discussion with PorterShed founders will follow and detail attendees on how they evolved their concept from idea to opening the PorterShed in 18 months.

This is intended to provide an opportunity to discuss Wexford’s role in the new economy, what is Wexford’s USP and how we can harness this into the future.  It will serve to foster collaboration between entrepreneurs, startups, SME’s and Corporates.  It is an opportunity to engage, mingle and innovate with like-minded people, entrepreneurs, startups and growing businesses.

As a team of Wexford people we have aligned with, followed and learned from the PorterShed Team over the past eighteen months or so. The PorterShed story will provide attendees with insights into their compelling journey.
