After a postponement last month due to the severe weather conditions the scene is set for The Island Hunt’s annual point-to-point at Ounavarragh on Saturday with the first race at 2 pm.
Speaking to WexfordToday.com earlier today, Gavin Kinch, said the track is drying out fast and with a good forecast for Friday he predicts that conditions could be “yielding to good” which will be welcomed by owners and trainers.
An impressive total of 123 entries were received with 39 the biggest field of the day for the four years old maiden race.
There are six races in all with the Winners of One (14 entries) and the Mares Open Lightweight (10) both looking very competitive.
The organisers have persevered at getting the fixture run off and they are hoping for a large attendance for a good day’s action.
